Derived GFR (dGFR) Values from Technetium-99m-MAG3 Data: A Comparison with the 24-Hour Creatinine Clearance

چکیده
Objective: Glomerular filtration can eliminate a substance only from the filtered fraction of the renal plasma flow. Since that fraction normally is 20%, ERPF agents clear from the kidneys about five times as fast as GFR agents. In most chronic renal diseases, the filtration fraction (GFR divided by ERPF) is largely unaffected, so the GFR can be estimated by dividing the ERPF by five. The aim of this study was to test this hypothesis. Methods: ERPF determinations were made in 52 patients. The results were then divided by five to derive GFR values. Each patient had a 24-hr creatinine clearance test within three days of the mTc MAG3 study. Patients with acute renal failure or transplant rejection were excluded from the protocol. Results: There was a high degree of correlation between the 24-hr creatinine clearance and the derived GFR values (dGFR) obtained from the mTc MAG3 data, r = 0.97, p < 0.05. Conclusion: Reliable dGFR values can be easily calculated in most chronic renal states using mTc MAG3 data; these derived values are well correlated to those obtained by the 24-hr creatinine clearance.

Evaluation of Renal Function: A Comparison Between Camera-Based Tc-99m MAG3 and 24-Hour Creatinine Clearances
OBJECTIVE: The 24-hour creatinine clearance is the standard clinical technique to measure renal function; however, this measurement is cumbersome and inconvenient for patients. We hypothesized that a camera-based Tc-99m mercaptoacetyltriglycine (MAG3) clearance obtained simultaneously with a standard MAG3 scan would correlate well with the 24-hour creatinine clearance and could serve as a simpl...
متن کاملA comparison of the predictive performance of different methods of kidney function estimation in a well-characterized HIV-infected population.
BACKGROUND Glomerular filtration rate (GFR) estimation equations have never been validated in the HIV population. This pilot study aimed to compare all currently available methods of kidney function assessment with nuclear GFR in HIV-infected adults. METHODS Patients underwent GFR measurement with (99m)Tc-diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid (Tc-99m Pentetate), and measured values were compared...
متن کاملComparison of methods for determination of glomerular filtration rate: Tc-99m-DTPA renography, predicted creatinine clearance method and plasma sample method.
BACKGROUND The gamma camera uptake method with Tc-99m-DTPA is simple and less time consuming for the determination of the glomerular filtration rate (GFR). However, its diagnostic accuracy is debated. Gates' method and predicted creatinine clearance method were compared with plasma clearance method with Tc-99m-DTPA for the measurement of GFR. MATERIALS AND METHODS Tc-99m-DTPA renography was p...

Introduction:Detecting renal allograft dysfunction early will allow timely diagnosis and treatment. There is no objective recommendation by national kidney societies for glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) estimation in post-transplant setting. 99mTc-DTPA Technetium-99m Diethylene triamine penta acetic acid) renogram can identify early renal dysfunction much before ser...
متن کاملThe impact of 177Lu-octreotide therapy on 99mTc-MAG3 clearance is not predictive for late nephropathy
Peptide Receptor Radionuclide Therapy (PRRT) for the treatment of neuroendocrine tumors may lead to kidney deterioration. This study aimed to evaluate the suitability of 99mTc-mercaptoacetyltriglycine (99mTc--MAG3) clearance for the early detection of PRRT-induced changes on tubular extraction (TE). TE rate (TER) was measured prior to 128 PRRT cycles (7.6±0.4 GBq 177Lu-octreotate/octreotide eac...
